Southeast Asia : Oceania:

Why does Oceania and Southeast Asia have strong cultural ties to other regions of the rest of the world? Southeast Asia has used their influences from other countries to create their own culture, most live in villages and follow traditional ways. Buddhism is highly spread throughout this region is because of the cultural ties between India, The Indian leader: Ashoka, sent monks that spread throughout this region…..

*Philippines is mostly catholic because of the spanish rule *In Indonesia and Brunei, Islam is widely spread because of trade with other regions and conquest ( also royal conversation).

Oceania: Islands Oceania is one of the most diverse regions in the world, and has a culture that blends the European and American ways with their traditional ways *Oceania islands are commonly divided into three main cultural and physical groupings: Micronesia( tiny islands), Melanesia( black islands), and Polynesia( many islands). *After European explorers, missionaries, and traders came to these islands: island societies started to die. The western ways almost completely replaced their traditional customs *English language is most common *Christianity is the most widely spread because of the missionaries

Australia and New Zealand: Australia: Because of when the british took over Australia, most Australians are of british descendants. 1 percent are aboriginals( the originals) and 20 percent are born foreign because of their high immigration rates. ●Because of the british, australians drive on the left side of the road ●Their still are plenty or aboriginals in australia and you can see that there art is not affected by the british colonization, and you can see their art around the country ●Christianity is their major religion (which entered australia in 1788, by the british colony of new South Wales) ●Because of european descendants, many australian painters portray landscape While strongly influenced by Anglo-Celtic origins, the culture of Australia has also been shaped by multi-ethnic migration which has influenced all aspects of Australian life, including business, the arts, cuisine, sense of humour and sporting tastes.
7
New Zealand: A decent amount of the population is European and british, also known as “pakehas,” and the Maori are the originals in New Zealand (8 percent of the population) Same as Australia, their culture is mixed between the Maori and the british ways( because of the british colonization): ●English and Maori are both languages ●Some churches mix the teachings of Maori and the teachings of christianity Their culture has expanded by the immigration from the Pacific Islands, and both South and East Asia.

The physical geography of Southeast Asia and Oceania has influenced its settlement and has affected its economy in many ways… Traditional economy in Oceania islands: Agriculture is the regions main economic activity, although the island do not have fertile soil but a lot of high islands do in fact have soil that supports agriculture ●Because they are surrounded by water, many people of Oceania earn their living of of fishing.
12
Australia and New Zealand’s Agriculture: Same as the islands in Oceania, Australia and New zealand rely on agriculture the most: (although trying to become more independent) ●New Zealand and Australia are major farming product exports ●This region has many flat plains which leads to only ten percent of Australia's land being able to produce and grow crops
13
:) ●Fun fact: New Zealand is the world top producer of Kiwi ●Fun fact: Australia is the world's top producer of diamonds
14
Southeast Asia economy/Industry: When factories started opening in Southeast Asia there were push and pull factors to the situation: ●The push factors are that it forced people to move out of their land because of the overpopulation in the little land they have usually leading to slums. ●The pull factor is that people could move to the city and earn some money. ●Many Southeast Asian countries have had quick industrial growth since the 1960s, which leads to some citizens getting higher incomes...
15
EFFECTS: It’s hard to control the industry in Southeast Asia, this has lead to serious pollution-because of the factories! The factories are massively affecting the environment in this region. ●This region has to reduce the negative effects of industrialization and promote the positive effects in the future- or there will be consequences.
16
Reasons for human Migration to Southeast Asia and Oceania: Pacific ocean had severe population pressures; Population pressure was a cause to migration in the pacific islands Main causes of migration : ●Pressure on food resources ●New technologies allowed them to move into new environments Colonial Wave. With the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, New Zealand became a British colony. This saw a great increase in the number of British migrants coming to New Zealand. … While strongly influenced by Anglo-Celtic origins, the culture of Australia has also been shaped by multi-ethnic migration which has influenced all aspects of Australian life, including business, the arts, cuisine, sense of humour and sporting tastes.
17
Southeast Asia: In Southeast Asia, their migration problems are present: The majority of natural disasters, 92 percent, that are causing migration are because of global warming. In this region, migration is a serious crisis: out of 65.3 million displaced people around the globe, about over 14 percent are being hosted in Asia and the pacific…..
