1 NatSIP-CRIDE Feasibility Study
Summary for Outcomes Workstream 4th June 2014

2 NatSIP-CRIDE Project How to link the pupil, provision and outcomes variables contained within the NatSIP Outcomes Benchmarking and the CRIDE surveys Need for collection and submission of individual CYP data 1st Phase – Feasibility Study (proof of concept)

3 Aims Feasibility of HI Services collecting a data set on individual CYP covering pupil, educational provision and outcomes variables Feasibility of governance, data protection and ethical approval arrangements

4 Investigation Participation of 7 Services covering 10 LAs
January – March 2014 Testing the manageability of gathering individual CYP data Exploring the suitability of draft governance, data protection and ethical approval arrangements Detailed feedback through a structured questionnaire

5 Feedback All respondents indicated that the data set would essentially be manageable to collect The Excel spreadsheet tool for data collection and submission was generally welcomed All respondents indicated that the governance proposals would be acceptable All respondents indicated that the data protection proposals would be acceptable (NB Issue of consent)

6 Feedback cont. All respondents indicated that the ethical approval proposals would be acceptable (NB Issue of consent) Other issues: Range of requests upon Services in Spring term Workload pressures and need for administrative support Impact of the need for informed consent upon the fullness of the HI cohort Potential participation in future pilot – average rating approx. 9 on a scale of: (definitely not) to 10 (highly likely)

7 Conclusion Substantial evidence in support of the proof of concept:
Feasible to collect data Feasible to make appropriate governance, data protection and ethical approval arrangements

8 Next steps NatSIP Reference Group agreed on May 9th for the project to proceed to 2nd Phase – Pilot Purpose: to fully test the survey process and consider requirements for the potential 3rd Phase – Longitudinal programme To involve a sample of 10 LAs collecting and submitting the data on individual CYP with HI (anonomysed) as part of the next NatSIP Outcomes Benchmarking exercise Call for volunteer HI Services!
