2 What is Highways England?
Previously the Highways Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport. Became a ‘Government-owned Company’ as of 1st April 2015. Has a mandate to deliver the largest roads building programme in a generation as outlined in the ‘Roads Investment Strategy’ £11bn of capital programmes to be delivered between

3 What does this have to do with data?
We are committed to improving the information we collect. To deliver the requirements of the RIS we need to make evidence based decisions. This requires robust date that we have confidence in. We are also committed to becoming Open by Default so that our decisions can be open to scrutiny.

4 What does that have to do with today?
Highways England is committed to being open by default. Any non-personal, non-sensitive data will proactively be made available. In order to influence what is published, and when, we require your requirements as a data user. Your feedback will also help us to improve the quality and accuracy of the data we collect and publish.

5 How can we help you to do your job or to build better things?
This is your opportunity to influence how we take open data forward. What data do you need to do your job better? Or to build better things? How should we improve the quality of the data we collect? Or the format it is collected in?
