Previously the Highways Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport.
Became a ‘Government-owned Company’ as of 1st April 2015.
Has a mandate to deliver the largest roads building programme in a generation as outlined in the ‘Roads Investment Strategy’

3. What does this have to do with data?
We are committed to improving the information we collect.
To deliver the requirements of the RIS we need to make evidence based decisions. This requires robust date that we have confidence in.
We are also committed to becoming Open by Default so that our decisions can be open to scrutiny.

4. What does that have to do with today?
Highways England is committed to being open by default.
Any non-personal, non-sensitive data will proactively be made available.
In order to influence what is published, and when, we require your requirements as a data user.
Your feedback will also help us to improve the quality and accuracy of the data we collect and publish.
