2 Which term? British general and philanthropist who helped found the colony. He was one of the original trustees, and the only one to come to GA. James Oglethorpe

3 Which term? A group of German-speaking Protestant refugees who helped settle the GA colony in the 1730s. Salzbugers

4 Which term? Spain and England sent explorers to the southeastern part of North America. Some motivation was “the 3 G’s”, land, resources, and religious freedom/escaping religious persecution. European Exploration

5 Which term? This religious group was prohibited from GA in the Charter of 1732, however a group from Portugal came to the colony with a doctor during an outbreak of yellow fever. The Charter of banned this practice in the colony, but many colonists grew labor-intensive crops and felt they needed enslaved workers in order to become as economically stable and successful as the Carolinas. Oglethorpe hoped to create a colony for the poor and debt-ridden people of England. However, no debtor was ever released from debtors’ prison to come to GA. Philanthropy
