Our (Lesley and Elliot) recent trip to South Africa took us from Kruger National Park to Cape Town, the wine lands and beyond. Along the way, we petted wild cheetahs, kissed a hippo, ate live termites and dried mopane worms. We visited the world famous Ronnie's Sex Shop where we lunched on grilled cheese sandwiches, and an ostrich farm, where we ate ostrich! We paid a visit to South African synagogues, the Apartheid Museum and Robyn Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
This talk highlights how we found politics, culture and nature in South Africa, as well as government corruption, how and why Cape Town is likely to be forever remembered as the first city to run out of water, the squalid slum townships and why some black South Africans believe life was better under apartheid.  Join us for an illustrated talk of the highs and lows of our South African adventure.
