Arrangements for this Half Term
Your timetables will run as normal
unless you have an exam.
If you have an afternoon exam, you will be able to go to lunch early.
If you have lessons where you have already sat the exam/completed the course – you will be able to revise for other subjects in that lesson. It is your responsibility to bring appropriate work to those lessons.

Exam Briefings
Exam Briefings will happen before each exam am start for morning exams and 1pm start for afternoon exams. Please arrive promptly.
Briefings will normally be in Site A Hall.
Exam Briefings will include a short presentation from a subject specialist to help you ‘get mentally ready’ for the upcoming exam.
The hall will also act as a holding room where your belongings can be left and held securely during the exam.

Starts on Mon 3rd June, after May holiday.
No need to register during this time but you do need to sign in and out of school - unless you are just here for an exam.
You are still expected to attend lessons in subjects where you haven’t sat your final exam – a register will be taken.
You are officially on ‘study leave’ when you have done your last exam.

Before an Exam…
Check you know when your exams are and where they are taking place – see board outside of the Hall.
Morning exams normally start at 9am and afternoon exams at 1.30pm.
Check you have a record of your candidate number – this does not change.
Check you have your ID card to take to the exam.
Check you have all necessary equipment.

6. Exceptional Circumstances

Exceptional Circumstances
If you have extra time, make sure you know the timings of your exam.
If you do your exams separate from most students, make sure you know where you are going – again see the board.
If you have a clash, it should be identified already – but make sure you are clear on what the arrangements are (don’t be afraid to ask if you’re not clear).
If you are ill on the day of the exam – phone in and let us know as soon as possible. You will also need a medical note from a medical centre if you want the exam board to take your illness into account.
If there is any other emergency on the day of an exam, do phone in so we can discuss how we’re going to manage it.
Be warned, there are not many acceptable reasons for missing an exam!

7. Doing the exam… Wigston College
Fill in the front page carefully so that all information is clear and accurate.
When doing the exam, you must use a black pen and write within designated spaces.
If you need extra space use pages at the back and/or extra sheets. Make it obvious that a response continues elsewhere. If you continue a response elsewhere, label it clearly with the right question number.
Exam scripts should only have your answers on. Any planning should be crossed out.
Underlining or highlighting is acceptable – but nothing else e.g. doodling, messages to the examiner, etc.

8. In the exam… Wigston College
You should remain silent all of the time you are in the exam room.
Bottles of water are allowed but nothing else to drink or eat. Remember no labels on bottles.
Pens and other equipment should be in clear pencil cases or plastic bags.
Electronic equipment (smart phones, smart watches, etc) should not be brought into the exam room/hall, nor any pieces of paper.
If you need anything during the exam – raise your hand and wait for an invigilator to come to you.
Throughout the exam, your behaviour should be beyond suspicion e.g. no looking around, no gesturing, no eye contact with others, no writing on hands, etc.

9. If the alarm bell sounds…

If the alarm bell sounds…
As always, don’t panic – but also remain completely silent.
Listen carefully to the instructions of the invigilators who will organise your evacuation.
You must remain silent when evacuating and continue to do so when outside. Do not attempt to communicate with each other – for whatever reason.
Assuming the alarm is a false one, we will aim to get you seated and back in the exam as quickly as possible.
