1 Birmingham City University in Partnership With You
Working together to train our future primary school teachers. How can you be involved?

High employment rates Effective relationships with our partnership schools where many of our trainees get jobs Ofsted: ‘Trainees in all phases are very well prepared to teach in a diverse society; the provider makes excellent use of the rich diversity in the region’ The Guardian league tables – published place BCU top in the WM and 17th in the country (out of 95 institutions).

3 BCU has two primary initial teacher training courses:-
Different routes – Mathematics & SEN Subject specialism opportunities Different age groups PGCE Primary with QTS BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS

4 This means that each year we have approximately 800 trainees requiring school based training opportunities. A large proportion of our trainees commute to BCU as they live in the local area. They want their first jobs to be in Birmingham – they are training to stay as teachers in Birmingham and will be looking for jobs in your schools.

5 120 days

6 School based training and experiences.
During the courses trainees will work in two/three different schools. The school experiences are developmental and progressive. Postgraduates have three periods of school based training during the one year of their course. Undergraduates have a period of school based training in each of the three years of their course.
