STANDARDS AND LEARNING GOALS
GA: Grade 7 Life Science S7L4. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to examine the interdependence of organisms with one another and their environments. Develop and/or use a model to predict and/or describe phenomena. Practice 4. Analyzing and interpreting data Analyzing data in 6–8 builds on K–5 experiences and progresses to extending quantitative analysis to investigations, distinguishing between correlation and causation, and basic statistical techniques of data and error analysis. Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for phenomena.

NGSS: Crosscutting Concepts
Crosscutting Statements 1. Patterns – Observed patterns in nature guide organization and classification and prompt questions about relationships and causes underlying them. Patterns can be used to identify cause and effect relationships. 7. Stability and Change – For both designed and natural systems, conditions that affect stability and factors that control rates of change are critical elements to consider and understand. Small changes in one part of a system might cause large changes in another part. Stability might be disturbed either by sudden events or gradual changes that accumulate over time.

Unit 5A Interdependence of Life(Ecology)
STUDENT WORK Unit 5A Interdependence of Life(Ecology) * Where does the energy in my food come from? * Why should the health and well-being of other organisms be important to me? * Why are there fewer animals than plants? * Why are there so many different kinds of organisms? * How are we related? * Where did all that energy come from? Unit 5A Interdependence of Life(Biomes) * What are the characteristics of the Earth’s major terrestrial biomes? * What are the characteristics of the Earth’s major aquatic communities? THE USE OF CELL PHONES TO PLAY GAMES, READ TEXT MESSAGES, AND ANY OTHER PERSONAL USE IS A VIOLATION OF RCBOE APPROVED USE POLICY. PARENTS PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILDS HISTORY OF USE ON THE CELLPHONE TO SEE WHEN IT IS BEING USED. THIS BEHAVIOR IS CAUSING STUDENTS TO MISS LESSONS AND MAY RESULT IN FAILING GRADES.

ASSESSMENTS/RUBRICS 1. Pre and Post quiz results on lessons.
2. Evaluation of VOCABULARY worksheets in class. 3. Completion of class RESEARCH on 6 land biomes and 2 water biomes due on 19 March for grade. We worked on during March at school. 4. Student makeup work on biomes is due March 27 5. Class work on biome workbook due this Friday.

FOCUS QUESTIONS FOR THIS NEXT WEEK
What evidence will be collected to document student learning Student collection and application of Biome data 2. How will we introduce Biomes of the Earth? Complete workbook and view selected biomes on DVD 3. What are the opportunities to increase learning?- Science magazines written for middle school students -
