Apprenticeships The Government has put a huge emphasis on Apprenticeships in order to fill the skills gap

The Levy Any company with over £3m profit needs to contribute to an apprenticeship levy

The Levy Non-levy paying employers will pay 5% towards to the cost of apprenticeship training, and government will pay the rest (95%).

Earnings Earnings The national minimum wage (NMW) for apprentices is
£3.90ph from April2019. Age dependant. This is the legal minimum pay per hour, most receive more. A recent survey estimated the average gross hourly pay received by apprentices in was £6.70ph for level 2 and 3 apprentices which is equivalent to nearly £14,000 per year.

Options Students can apply to both an
apprenticeship and for a university course. Very sensible to keep your options open Competition for places with employers can be fierce. Make sure the apprenticeship is attached to a job (not all are).
