1 COP TRIP INFORMATION

2 Clothing You want to dress in layers so that if you are cold, you keep layers on, but if you are warm, you can remove layers to regulate. Inner Layer Next to your skin and helps manage moisture (sweat). It is usually fairly snug to the body, not loose. Often called “long johns” this layer is best if synthetic like under armour, or a polypropylene.

3 Layering Continued Mid Layer Outer Layer
This layer is designed to provide warmth. It should be looser than the inner layer, but still not baggy. Fleece or merino wool are good choices but a warm hoody will do the job fine if kept dry. Outer Layer This layer protects from the elements (wind, snow, etc) and sometimes adds warmth too. It should fit easily over the other layers. Choices are a snow jacket and ski pants.

4 Other Important Clothing Items:
Warm ski gloves or mitts (not the thin one size fits all gloves … these will not be warm at all). A warm thin toque that will fit under a ski helmet (you must wear a ski helmet … if you have your own, please bring it as it will likely be most comfy to you). Goggles or sunglasses (snow is bright if the sun is out!) Face cover (like a fleece neck cover or face cover if you ski regularly and have it … or a scarf tied well). Don’t forget warm socks too!!

5 What else should come? A nutritious lunch that will replenish your energy with snacks. You can bring money to buy lunch there too but you are responsible for it. A back pack to carry lunch and extra layers in. If you have your own ski or snowboard boots, these will be more comfy than rentals even if you aren’t bringing your own board or skis.

6 What shouldn’t come? Our items will be stored in our area of the lodge, but not in a locked space. Anything you wouldn’t want stolen should not come. The day will be filled with lessons with a break long enough to eat so no electronics are needed. Phones should be left at home or in your school locker, if your parents need contacting, then the teachers can do this and would only be in case of a serious injury or emergency.

7 Skier’s Responsibility Code
Need to follow this code while on the hill at all times. You will remain with your instructor and in lessons according to your ability, you cannot go off on your own at any time.

8 If you are hurt … If you are hurt, you can go into the lodge to see one of the teachers in our area. It will likely be Ms. Patterson. She will have a look and if more attention is required, you may be taken to the lodge first aid station. There may be cases in which your instructor may ask you to go straight to first aid, and they will contact Ms. Patterson too. Ms. Patterson will contact your parent/guardian if required.

9 Be Prepared and Let’s Have Fun!
