1 Macbeth Act II Scene 1 Fleance: son of Banquo
Banquo tells Macbeth that he has thought about the witches. Macbeth says that he has not- which is a lie. Hallucination of the Dagger: Macbeth’s guilt before he murders King Duncan. The dagger is leading him to Duncan’s chamber. Lady Macbeth rings a bell to signal to Macbeth that the guards are knocked out and he can kill Duncan.

2 Macbeth and L.M. are on edge after the murder.
Malcolm and Donalbain were in the next room over-praying before they went to sleep. Mac. Heard them praying but couldn’t do it because he was feeling guilty. Macbeth forgot to leave the daggers with the guards to frame them-L.M. goes back with them. L.M. says that she would have murdered King Duncan herself if he “had not looked like my father”.

3 “Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand
“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No; this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red.”- Macbeth cleans his hands but he feels that instead of the blood disappearing within the water it will overtake it-just like his guilt. He can wash the blood off of his hands but not off his heart/soul.

4 Scene 3 Porter: irony that he is referring to Inverness as a hell and it has actually become one. Macduff- Foil( character who sets off another character by strong contrast) to Macbeth…as Macbeth is weakening and falling into the abyss of sin…Macduff is strengthening. Macduff comes to get King Duncan to leave the castle in the morning. WEATHER REFLECTING THE ACTIONS OF MACBETH-UNNATURAL MURDER!

5 Macbeth killed the guards
Macduff finds King Duncan dead. Murder and treason because all of those in Inverness should be those that can be trusted. Malcolm and Donalbain don’t know who they can trust. Macbeth killed the guards 1. In reality because he needed to cover his tracks. 2. Excuse was because he was upset that they had murdered his King.

6 MACBETH GOES TO SCONE TO BE CROWNED KING!!
Malcolm and Donalbain decide to run because they don’t know who to trust. Malcolm to England Donalbain to Ireland (they will be safer because they will be separated) People think that because the sons run that they had something to do with their father’s murder. MACBETH GOES TO SCONE TO BE CROWNED KING!!
