Jack opened his eyes. He turned on his lamp
Jack opened his eyes. He turned on his lamp. His sister Annie stood in his doorway.

“We have to go to the tree house,” whispered Annie softly.

It was a stormy night. The rain tapped hard on his window pane
It was a stormy night. The rain tapped hard on his window pane. They put on their raincoat quickly and Jack grabbed his backpack.

They went quietly down the stairs and slipped out the door into the cold, wet night.

They walked fast through the dark wood until they reached the tree house. When Jack and Annie climbed into it, they saw a small dog sitting in a corner.

The dog stared sadly at them
The dog stared sadly at them. Then the little dog pushed a book gently towards them. “The dog wants us to go there,” Jack said as he pointed to a picture of a huge ship.

So Jack pointed at the cover of the book
So Jack pointed at the cover of the book. “I wish we could go there,” he said.

The wind started to blow. The tree house started to spin
The wind started to blow. The tree house started to spin. Then everything was still. Absolutely still!
