2. History of Voting Rights
The Framers left the power to set suffrage to the States.
Started with white male property owners.
Voting rights extended by eliminating religious qualifications.
Voting rights were then given to any citizen, regardless of race, after the Civil War.

3. History of Voting Rights
The next voting rights were given to women.
Finally voting rights for minorities were inforced.
Voting rights were given to people at 18 years old.

4. Power to Set Voting Qualifications
The Federal government sets restrictions on how the States decide who can vote.
If a person can vote in one election they can vote in all elections.
15th Amendment.
19th Amendment.
State cannot place a vote tax.
26th Amendment.
