3
Goals and Motivation Develop autonomous and manual capability for the Jet UAV Tested capabilities on RC model Pass FAA standards for autopilot, control, and safety
4
Key Features Transmit and receive data from the UAV and the ground Station. The information received will give the pilot a similar representation of all the gauges inside a normal cockpit. Failsafe system in case the connection is lost from the controller. Alongside the failsafe, a collision avoidance protocol must also be implemented. All these protocols are in compliance to the FAA standards. The UAV will also have autonomous capabilities. The capabilities include following a path predetermined by the pilot, fly and drop a payload at a certain location, or survey an area.
5
Novel Features There are no novel feature on the software side of the project since there are many other UAV drones that have the same system features implemented.
6
Technical Challenges Our first challenge is to revise our plan and test our system with a model plan provided by the aerospace team since they will be unable to complete their aircraft on time. Our next challenge will be rewiring all our systems to be incorporated into the model. We must be able to use our system on an unfinished plane to show that the communication between our system and their plane is working and theoretically could fly the Jet UAV upon completion.
7
Milestones 4 (Feb 11) Implement, test, and demo integration of the pixhawk into the model aircraft and verify valid connections. Implement, test, and demo connection from ground control to pixhawk inside the model. Resolve Technical Challenges
8
Milestone 5 (Mar 18) Implement, test, and demo controlling the aircraft using our ground control Create a poster for Senior Design Showcase
9
Milestone 6 (April 15) Implement, test, and demo autonomous flight in case of disconnection from the ground control station. Test/demo the entire system Create a User Manual Create a demo video
