Sprites are characters and props that you can program to take action in your program

Some sprites have costumes

Costume changes give the illusion of movement.
This program says: After the flag is clicked, put on avery-a costume. Wait a ½ second and put on avery-b costume. Wait a ½ second and put on avery-a costume again. The forever loop means it will repeat until the program is stopped.

You can modify the costume choices and/or draw new ones
Select the costume tab Hold down control while you click on a costume to bring up these options (or right click). Choose duplicate. Get a blank canvas for a new costume here

Experiment with your tools.
Try converting to Bitmap (pixels) and see how the tools differ

You can also upload images to create your own sprites.

A .png file will have no background
Tomato.png This is where you select which sprite you want to work with

You can erase white backgrounds from images

Convert to Bitmap Choose no color, which is this red slash icon
Choose the paint bucket Click in the white space

Use the eraser to fix up the edges
You can change the eraser size here You can zoom in for more detailed work

Create a new project Title it Lesson Two Delete the cat!

Bring in the bat

Click on the tab to see his costumes

Click back on Code tab Add this code

How does this work? What is the trigger to run the code?
The green flag What do you think this does? It causes a loop which repeats the code 10 times Why do we need these wait commands? It spaces out the commands – otherwise they would all happen at once and cancel each other out

Add a Special Effect Go to Looks and choose this code
Add it in the middle of your program.
