Point OF Information (Request for Information) The information requested must pertain to the pending business A Point of Information must be in the form of a question (not a statement)

A Point of Order is ruled on by the chair The chair’s decision may be appealed by the delegates

Question OF Privilege Used to call attention to and correct a situation Examples: Audio problems Microphone problems Comfort of delegates (heating, cooling, etc.) Security and safety

How to Make a Motion Write out your motion on a motion form
Use Microphone 1 to make a motion Wait until you are recognized by the chair Step towards the microphone to make your motion

Original motion: I move that a $300 scholarship be presented each June to a senior class member. Amendment: I move to amend the motion by inserting the words "January and" after the word "each."

PRE-FILED AMENDMENTS AT THE 2019 CONVENTION
All primary amendments to a bylaws amendment, resolution, or dues increase motion must be pre-filed and submitted at the submission table located at the site of the Amendments Writing Lab on Thursday morning. Pre-filed amendments can be submitted between 9:45 am – 1:30 pm. on Thursday, June 20. The deadline to submit is 1:30 pm ET. Pre-filed amendments will be considered in General Meeting 2 on Thursday in the order that they are received at the submission table.

Bylaws and Resolutions will be presented at General Meeting 2 on Thursday at 3:00 pm. DUES INCREASE MOTIONS Proposed Dues Increase Motions will be presented at General Meeting 2 on Thursday at 3:00 pm: Motion 1 — National PTA Dues Increase National PTA dues to be increased by $1.50. Motion 2 – Dues Increase Implementation Date The dues increase to take effect September 1, 2019. Motion 1 will be debated and voted on first, followed by a debate and vote on Motion 2.
