2017 Region 5 Awards
The IEEE Region 5 awards for 2016 were announced at the April, 2017 Annual Meeting in Denver:
IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Individual Achievement Award 2016 – Hema Ramaswamy
IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Branch Counselor Award – Lawrence A. Larson
IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Large Company – Southwest Research Institute (SwRI)
SwRI Stepping Stone Award
18 April 2017 IEEE leadership presented the first IEEE Region 5 Stepping Stone Award to the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) for their role in the successful accomplishments of the New Horizons spacecraft.
ComSoc Chapter-of-the-Year Award
“For achieving the highest excellence in Chapter activities and for outstanding contributions furthering the objectives of the Society”
ComSoc Chapter Achievement Award (One selected from each Region)
“For achieving excellence in Chapter activities and for contributions made in furthering the objectives of the Society”

Fellow Upgrades – of 41 nominations, 12 were elevated to IEEE Fellow in Region 5 in 2017.
