“MEDIACOM 2004”: general framework for the next generation of MM standards
Focus on mobility, ease of use, systems flexibility, end-to-end interoperability, specific quality requirements
Support of harmonised and co-ordinated development of global multimedia communication standards across all ITU-T and ITU-R SGs in close co-operation with other SDOs

CONCLUSIONS
Different types of convergence are under way
Threat to introduce on the market standards which are not compatible or interoperable
An increased number of SDOs and industry forums are defining standards
Need for better communications between the business communities involved
MEDIACOM-2004 will be used as instrument to coordinate the development of MM standards
