Description: The Crochet Bay Shell Slouch Beanie is crocheted from the bottom up. Any weight yarn may be used with the appropriate hook size. This beanie uses shell stitches in 2 different shades of blue for a beautiful design. 2 Pattern: BRIM | Worked flat with smaller hook Row 1: ch10, 1hdc in 2nd ch from hook & every ch across (9 sts). Row 2-61: ch1, turn. 1hdc tbl of every st across (9 sts). Note: Adjust number of rows for desired circumference. Measure brim while slightly stretched. Your number of rows may be more or less than 60 rows. Seam short ends of brim with sl sts working tbl of the last row. Flip brim right side out with seam inside. BODY | Worked in the round with larger hook Round 1 (MC): ch1, work 96 sc sts evenly around. Sl st to first sc st. Round 2 (MC): ch3 (counts as dc), 2dc in same st, sk2, 1sc in next, *sk2, 5dc in next, sk2, 1sc in next. Rep from * until last 2 sts. sk2, 2dc in first st, sl st into 3rd st from beg ch3. Round 3 (CC): ch1, 1sc in same st, *ch2, dc5tog over the next 5 sts, ch2, 1sc in middle of shell st. Rep from * until last 5 sts. End with ch2, dc5tog over next 5 sts, ch2, sl st to first sc. Round 4 (MC): ch3, 2dc in same st, sk3, 1sc in next, *sk1, 5dc in sc st, sk3, 1sc in next. Rep from * around. End with 2dc in first st, sl st into 3rd st from beg ch3. Rep Rounds 3-4 until beanie measures approx. 9" measuring from bottom of brim. End after round 4. Crochet more rounds for a slouchier beanie. DECREASE ROUNDS Round 1 (CC): ch1, *1sc in same st, ch1, dc5tog over the next 5 sts, ch1, 1sc in next st. Rep from * until last 5 sts. End with ch1, dc5tog, ch1, sl st to the first sc st. Round 2 (MC): ch3, 1dc in same st as ch3, sk2, 1sc in next, *3dc in sc st, sk2, 1sc in next. Rep from * around. End with 1dc in the first st. sl st to 3rd ch from beg ch3. Round 3 (CC): ch1, 1sc in same st, *ch1, dc3tog over the next 3 sts, ch1, 1sc in next st. Rep from * until last 3 sts. End with ch1, dc3tog over the next 3 sts, ch1, sl st to the first sc st Round 4 (MC): ch1, *1sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc2tog. Rep from * around. sc in any rem st. Round 5 (MC): ch1, *1sc in next st, sc2tog. Rep from * around. sc in any rem st. FINISHING Cut a long enough tail to weave through the rows on top of the beanie. Cinch and tighten. Fasten off and weave in all ends. .
