Economic Growth and Democracy and Governance
Development Objective 1: Opportunities for Inclusive Growth Increased Emphasizes policy implementation as it relates to market-driven, private sector-led economic growth. Supports the Government of Mongolia to advance business enabling policies, strengthen private sector competitiveness while promoting diversification and increased financial sector capacity. Development Objective 2: Government Effectiveness and Accountability Improved Continues USAID’s commitment to and comparative advantage in providing assistance to develop Mongolia’s democratic government. Enhances the capacity of the government to transparently advance national development goals including sustained economic growth and reductions in poverty.

(APPEAL) Project Objectives Strengthening awareness and understanding of the legal framework related to administrative reform, anti-corruption, and good governance Supporting engaged, informed action in localities that animate good governance through Mongolia’s legal framework. Strengthening Transparency and Governance (STAGE)
Project Objectives I. To strengthen anti-corruption efforts: · Increase knowledge of citizens and the private sector on the modalities of grand corruption · Strengthen the legal and policy framework for good governance · Build the capacity of relevant anti-corruption agencies to fulfill their mandate · Increase private sector engagement in anti-corruption · Enhance the capacity of civil society to monitor anti-corruption in the public and private sectors through innovative modalities II. Wildlife Conservation Society
Sustainable Conservation Approaches in Priority EcosystemS (SCAPES) Project Objectives This project will contribute to conserving biodiversity and securing the livelihoods of the rural poor by: building a transboundary political constituency for collaborative conservation across the Daurian Steppe; and scaling up an effective community-based model for wildlife and rangeland management. USDA Funded: Rural Agribusiness Support Project
Project Objectives Support the establishment and growth of rural enterprises and increase the value of sales of marketable animal products and crops by developing a more market-oriented agricultural production and marketing system Project Location 12 Aimags Funding USDA Funded; March Sept 2012 Implemented By Mercy Corps Expand and strengthen value chains from agricultural and livestock producers to include processors and consumers; create new market opportunities for local producers; increase the visibility and availability of safer food products; improve the supporting environment for agribusiness development; strengthen the veterinary sector; and identify, test and disseminate methodologies for improved natural resource management

Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction (DRR)
USAID/OFDA-supported (DRR) programs in Mongolia have included: initiatives to improve medical facility preparedness and capacity to deal with disasters; develop systems to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting of humanitarian and emergency response information USAID/OFDA also provided training on Incident Command Systems—a management framework designed to integrate personnel, equipment, procedures, facilities, and communications during complex events—to NEMA to help ensure more efficient disaster responses In total, USAID/OFDA has provided nearly $1.5 million for disaster response and DRR programs in Mongolia since 1993
