ISMG – Instrument Specific Marking Guide Markbooks – ISMG – A-E for Reporting Quality Assurance procedures.

3 QCE General subjects Summative Assessment from Units 3 and 4 ✤ 3 Internal Assessments and 1 External Assessment ✤ Instrument Specific Marking Guides (ISMG) used to make judgements ✤ Cognitive verbs –Explicitly taught across yr7-12 and demonstrated in the assessment ✤ School internal processes for endorsement / confirmation prior to reporting –instil community confidence and support teacher’s decisions in lead up to confirmation (QCAA) ✤ HOD and Key Teacher clusters (geographic / subject based) to support quality assessment and resource development

4 Assessment Planning Timing of units – need to consider assessment demands and QCAA deadlines Unit 1 – 15 weeks Unit 2 – 15 weeks Unit 3 – 21 weeks Unit 4 – 18 weeks Unit 4 External Exams – 3 weeks End of Unit Reporting A-E – derived from marks achieved on ISMG. Marks in year 12 only will contribute to ATAR Calculation.

6 Reporting prior to sate
Based on Exit Standards for each dimension in the Syllabus relating to the quality of the student’s work matched to the descriptors. Students exited with a VHA, HA, SA, LA or VLA based on Summative Assessment

For Internal Assessment Different overall percentages depending on Syllabus guidelines Different ISMG’s for each subject Provides feedback for students and is mapped to the subject objectives Not used in VET or Applied subjects (Essential English & Essential Maths) The highlighted section shows the characteristics students will demonstrate at a sound level Of achievement for each objective

Changes to Assessment – New Assessment Policy developed to ensure success for all and clearly identify QCAA requirements Essential for students to complete all assessment – otherwise no credit given AARA’s – clearly set out evidence required for reasonable adjustments for illnesses and misadventure – and Holidays during term are not an option. Subject selection ATAR not for everyone – choices should be based on the pathway you want – support is available at every turn. Statement of Expectations
