1 Heart Diagram Task Part One:
Draw a diagram/s of the heart showing how oxygenated and deoxygenated blood travels through the heart in one cycle. Checklist: Diagram anatomically correct. Includes all valves, atria & ventricles (labeled correctly). /8  Shows correct sequence of events during a heart beat (systole & diastole) /5  Path of blood flow accurate /5 Both  group members must work cooperatively /2 Part Two: Ventricular septal defect describes one or more holes in the wall that separates the right and left ventricles of the heart. Ventricular septal defect is one of the most common congenital (present from birth) heart defects. The baby may have no symptoms, and the hole can eventually close as the wall continues to grow after birth. If symptoms continue despite medication or the VSD leads to a heart infection, surgery to close the defect with a Gore-tex patch is needed. Using your diagram, explain how VSD will affect blood flow in the heart. /5
