2 Lawyer (what is a lawyer)
Lawyers serve as advocates as well as advisors. As advocates- they speak for their clients in court by presenting supportive evidence As advisors- they counsel their clients on their legal rights and obligation. Lawyers (often referred to as attorneys or counselors, can interpret laws apply laws to specific situations and draft new laws.

5 Job Outlook There are about 735,000 lawyers practicing nationwide.
The demand for lawyers is said to increase tremendously by 2014, however, there are still many people entering the field, therefore, the competition will still be stiff. Best opportunity for people who want to work for law firms are in the big city The best opportunity for private practices is in suburban areas and small towns

6 Earnings and Salary In 2004, median salary for all lawyers is $94,930 a year State and local government lawyers-$70,000 -$73,410per year Federal government lawyer-$108,000 per year Entered practice in large firms- $34,000-$80,000 per year Start their own business after law school with good experience can earn from $130,000 to a million dollars a year

7 Education and Training Required
Must have a bachelors degree from a four year undergraduate college Must pass the LSAT(law school admission test) Good scores on aptitude test Must complete law school Must be admitted to the bar in their perspective states

8 Working Conditions Most lawyers work in offices but they must also be flexible. Lawyers also must be prepared to work overtime especially if they are preparing for a court case of some sort. Lawyers are known to handle clients in their office, their client’s office or place of business, or even in a hospital or a prison.

9 Plans After Claflin After I graduate from Claflin, I plan to immediately take the LSAT, apply for USC Columbia's law school and began working towards my dreams of becoming a juvenile lawyer.
