5 Aim To Promote Positive, Mental and Emotional Wellbeing for the workforce of Seagate Technology

6 Objectives By the end of the session the participants will be able to:
Identify common statistics on mental health Demonstrate awareness of mental health stigma Identify the most common mental health disorder in the UK Discuss the benefits of seeing the person before the illness Identify the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours

7 Objectives (contd) List a number of negative thinking styles
Explore the methods and benefits of managing these thoughts Demonstrate replacement of automatic negative thoughts with realistic positive thoughts List the ‘take 5 steps’ to wellbeing and ‘10 tips’ on resilience Develop a plan of action to implement ‘Take 5 Steps’ or ‘10 tips on Resilience’

8 This model of training is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT: an evidence based talking therapy Can help the person manage their problems by changing the way they think and behave Most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression Effective treatment for a range of mental health problems Used as a “life tool”

Helps the person identify their thoughts, especially negative automatic thoughts (NATS) Looks at realistic thinking Enables the person to challenge unhealthy thinking and behaviour

Thoughts are the conversations we have with ourselves in our heads, what we say to ourselves and what we say back We have thoughts about everything… Up to 60,000 a day Thoughts are neither right nor wrong

Feelings (emotional) The emotions we experience on a day-to-day basis Positive feelings: Excitement, love, satisfaction, happiness, achievement, contentment etc. Negative feeling: Sadness, anger, irritation, jealously, loneliness, anxiety etc. Emotional feelings are neither right nor wrong

Feelings (physical) Feelings are the changes that take place in our bodies E.G. headaches, tiredness, tension, tightness in stomach or throat etc. Physical feelings are neither right nor wrong
