In 2006 the Board began to look at all of the Committee structures to determine if they were serving the needs of the fellowship in the best manner possible and, if not, what could be done to improve their effectiveness. Conference members who served on the various committees were given questionnaires to help them evaluate how the committees currently operated and what could be done to improve their connection to the fellowship. One of these committees to be reviewed was the Regional Service Seminar (RSS) Committee. The comments and ideas that came from the RSS Committee were reviewed by the Board of Trustees (BOT). Following a lengthy discussion the Chair of the Board appointed a Thought Force whose charge was to generate ideas on what a dynamic, flexible, nimble, and task oriented RSS would look like. Based on those ideas and after more discussion by the BOT a Task Force was formed to create an innovative service event that would better meet the needs of the Areas and their members. From this discussion, TEAM events were born. First TEAM event was held on May 1-2, It was in New Mexico/El Paso. A total of 60 TEAM events (this includes 6 events scheduled for 2019): 25 Areas held one event 14 Areas held two events 3 Areas held three events 1 Area held four events 43 of 67 Areas held events <click>

Before we read the names of all the Areas that have participated in TEAM events the WSO volunteers and Staff want to thank every Area and every member who participated in TEAM events. You have made these events memorable and fun. Together we have helped each other to better understand Al-Anon, one another and ourselves. TEAM has let us know we do not have to do anything alone and help is just a phone call, or text away. We truly feel that we have been empowered by the interactions of members, staff and volunteers and will hold memories of past events close in our hearts. <click> When the Blue Areas appear a member of the task force will list all the Areas that have held one TEAM event. <click> When the Green Areas appear a member of the task force will list all the Areas that have held two TEAM events. <click> When the Yellows Areas appear a member of the task force will list all the Areas that have held three TEAM event. <click> When the Red Area appears a member of the task force will thank all the Area that has held four TEAM events. <click> Thank you again and again. <click>

Together Empowering Al-Anon Members Together Empowering Al-Anon
In 2018 a Board task force was formed to look at restructuring TEAM events. The task force was made up of WSO Staff and Volunteers. During the time the task force was working on improvements to TEAM events the WSO Staff was looking into ways to more efficiently use its resources. Among the ideas they suggested was not having staff members participate in TEAM events any longer. Given that there are up to 9 TEAM events per year and Staff participates in all of them it would free up staff time for other valuable Al-Anon work. The Board discussed the Staff idea and thought it was good. The Board also discussed holding TEAM events without the Staff and decided it would involve a lot more time on the volunteers part and take away from other Board work. In the end the Board decided to discontinue TEAM events and begin to look at options to work on a new way of interacting with members, Staff, and Volunteers. <click> Members

What will our 2020 vision look like?
After the evaluation of the overall impact of TEAM Events within our service structure, it has been decided that TEAM Events would end in The last scheduled TEAM event will be on September 28th, 2019 in Pennsylvania. In deciding next steps, we will use the experience gleaned from the Regional Service Seminars (RSS) and the TEAM Events as well as what we have learn from “Road Trip: You and Your Board Connect” as models. Today, we have access to technology that was unavailable when RSS and TEAM Events were originally launched. New platforms now provide an opportunity to consider an idea or a redesign for a similar events that could reach/or be accessible to wider audiences. <click>
