Sharing Information
The project status needs to be monitored by the managers
gathered information needs to be shared with the team.
The project team needs to be informed of the status and analysis of various parts of the project
an informed team is much more motivated.
Care must be taken not to overload team members with information.
To achieve a balance, it is best to pick 3 or 4 measurements to share with team members.

The following 4 areas are good starters:
Schedule status
Functional completeness status
Quality status
Budget status
The team should also be made aware of the status of the items on the risk management list, regardless of the category.

The following questions should also be addressed:
What form should the information take?
When should the information be communicated?
Where should the information be displayed?
The answer to the above questions depend on the project.
A graphical form is used to make a single impression and is better than using several sentences.

Communicating time-related status
Tabular forms:
For monitoring and tracking a list of major events
May be well suited for management team members.
See Table 11.1 On Page 225 in textbook.
Bar chart formats:
For communicating information to a broader audience, a detailed tabular form may not be suitable because it may require careful reading of the details.

Bar chart formats:
A more graphical representation would be needed for a quicker communication to large audiences.
Communicating control-related status
Control charts are especially good for communicating project status to a large group of people because of their graphical form and the ease with which one can spot data values that fall outside the control limits.
