1. The nation had become sons who were steeped in sin. (Isaiah 1:2 – 9)

Rebellious Sinful nation Weighed down Offspring Despised

2. The nation had become worshipers who were hypocritical. (Isaiah 1:10 – 15)

Worship for God’s people had become the perpetuation of religious ritual rather than the gateway to vibrancy with God! Their time in God’s house had no effect on their time in their homes!

3. The nation was a people in need of God’s pardon. (Isaiah 1:16 – 20)

The path to experiencing God’s forgiveness and cleansing is confession and repentance. (vv 16-17, 19) (vs. 18) “Come let us reason together” – in its literal rendering would mean “declare a verdict in a court case.” (v. 19) Confession and repentance always leads to a renewal of God’s blessings!
