802.21 Next Steps WG already planning on doing things beyond Handovers
Multi-radio (Media independent) services Need to change Title and Scope of WG Members not happy when name Media Independent Handoff appears on cover page of subsequent specifications (ES) Constantly asked by 802EC why are we doing things beyond handovers Revision PAR allows us to change Title and Scope of WG
4
Changes to Specification - I
Multi-Radio (Media Independent) Services Is there a common framework for multi-radio services such as handovers, emergency services, multi-radio power mgmt? Does it make sense to restructure the base spec along these lines? Or are these services all very independent leading to independent specifications? Revision PAR allows us to restructure base specification 4
5
Changes to Specification - II
Handover Services Does the current handover part need to be updated? The 3GPP part needs to be updated. How do things align/not align with work in WMF? Are there other deficiencies in base spec? It should be clear as to how works with specs from other (SDOs). Revision PAR allows us to update Handover Services 5
6
Alternately…. We need not do anything!
Title of Media Independent Handoff will appear on Emergency Services spec (if the PAR is approved) and other subsequent Services There will be no base Services spec Handover part will remain as is Will future Handover amendments be affected by this? 802.21a? 802.21b? What message we convey to outside world? 6
