2
PM10 levels in Austria 2005
3
PM10 characteristics in Austria
Large spatial variability due to topography and dispersion conditions High PM10 levels in basins and valleys in the Southern Alps and in the Lowlands south-east of the Alps – very adverse dispersion conditions High PM10 levels in the north-eastern and south-eastern Lowlands – high contribution by medium- to long-range transport from Eentral-Eastern Europe Lower PM10 levels and less long-range transport in the north-western Lowlands – more favourable dispersion conditions Distinct vertical gradient – low PM10 concentrations in elevated regions
4
Urban PM10 concentrations
5
Regional and long-range Transport
Investigation of long-range transport and regional accumulation by combination of backward-trajectories and EMEP emission inventory Typical situations of transport from importand cource regions in central eastern Europe.
6
Regional and long-range Transport – estimation of contributions to Vienna
7
Chemical composition of PM10

Information stored in data-base
After any data checking and correction, the following information is stored in the AQ data-base (on a half-hourly time basis): Final (corrected) half-hour mean values original half-hour mean values (as transmitted from the monitoring station) Validity flags Data check flags Information about corrections and changes: reason of correction (from a picklist) time who did it Zero- and span-values Status bits
