With each passing year, more neighbours are attending this Fairmont Park gathering, showing such a strong community bond. There was a ton of excitement in the air this year, from the bouncy castle provided by Stan’s HVAC, fun face painting by The Colourful Chameleon and Halloween safety tips by Constable Neilly with the Ottawa Police Service. A local favourite, The Merry Derry offered gift cards for the costume contest, there was also hot coffee from Bridgehead and delicious tea from David’s Tea. Last but not least, a CHNA bake sale!
Bake sale was incredible as usual. So many new people and always Dr. Linda Robinson – which is superb.   I need to get more coffee from B/H next year as we always run out. I also heard from many that we should charge $1 a coffee. Then we could actually order more coffee and break even.  We do need more volunteers though so I encourage people to contact Julie now while it’s still fresh in their minds for next year.

Residential neighbourhoods in Ottawa built after 2009 often have reduced speed limits of 40 km/h. Many older neighbourhoods don’t.
Reduced speeds help to make the neighbourhood safer for pedestrians, cyclists and children playing in the area.
Beginning this fall, a new type of speed limit sign will be posted at the entrances and exits of some older Ottawa neighbourhoods. These signs look like any other speed limit signs, with one exception: they have an “Area” panel attached. When entering a neighbourhood with an ”Area” speed limit sign, motorists should be aware that the lower speed limit is in effect for all streets within that area.
By placing signs at only the entrance and exit points of select areas, residents will be able to enjoy neighbourhoods that aren’t cluttered with speed limit signs on every street. The signs will begin appearing in downtown Ottawa neighbourhoods, but at current funding levels, it is expected to take many years to be fully rolled out.
However, CHNA and urban wards are asking to implement a lower gateway limit…30KM/H…a speed that ensures much safer residential streets.

this is close.  I had to estimate what I spent on PIP so I just used $75 to get something in.  I will amend once I add up my receipts that are at home but I think this is good enough for today.
Membership revenues are actually down about $400 which is surprising.  We had a ton after the 2017 Spring GM but less this time around.  Maybe we won’t allude to that… 
The $500 corp sponsor is all Stan’s.  It’d be great to acknowledge them again as well as Susan of course.
There is always paypal $ in the bank but I just moved over $217 today this has been reflected.
