1 Growth and Change p.72 – 75 Complete Reflection sheets 12 & 13
Read pages 72 – 75. After the reading, answer these questions in your notebook/binder: Have you noticed a fixation with certain areas of your physical development? What do you tell yourself when these fixations present themselves?

2 Growth and Change p.72 – 75 How have your moods been lately? Have you taken the time to notice them? Are your moods affecting others? In what ways are they affecting others?

3 Notes…(copy) Mood – this is a non-permanent state of mind experienced at a particular time. (restless, miserable, irritable, hopeful, anxious, relaxed) Young people experience a greater change in mood than adults. Let’s try something… The good news and the bad news... video video Both videos about 3 minutes each

4 Sexual Attraction and Feelings p.77 (Copy)
Sexual feelings: in general, males become sexually aroused more quickly than females. Romantic fantasies: these tend to provide us with mental images of the perfect relationship. While these can help us prepare for future relationships, sometimes they can distract us from important aspects of our lives. (family, school, work, etc.)

5 Sexual Fantasies: These are normal, and though we can’t control the arrival of mental images, it’s best to avoid focusing on sexual thoughts. Choose to occupy your mind with other kinds of thoughts – school, work, etc. Pornography: Curiosity about this topic is normal, but deliberately choosing to look at these images is morally wrong, and could lead to an unhealthy addiction.

6 Discussion Questions:
Did the statistics from page 80 surprise you? How do you think these statistics have changed since then? (if, at all) Do you think a good Family Life education can help the situation? Explain.

7 Appearance and Advertising
Video 1 Now answer the questions from Worksheet #16 Video 2

8 Homosexuality (copy) Statistics indicate that 2 – 5% of the population is homosexual. To be a homosexual is to experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction to persons of the same sex. Homosexuality is not something that is deliberately chosen.

9 (copy) Negative comments about any aspect of a person’s sexuality are unacceptable and harmful.
