Invest in the Future Regular Membership: ($50.00)
Regular membership shall be opened to any social workers (BSW or MSW). Members may come from the state level social work program of maternal and child health, family planning, children with special health care needs, home health, chronic disease, infectious disease, mental health, emergency preparedness or any other designated public health identified program. All members shall have one joint vote on all matters before the Association. All members may serve on committees and attend all meetings and are eligible to serve as officers of the Association. Regular Organizational Membership: ($200.00) Regular Organizational membership shall be opened to any state requiring organizational memberships. Up to 4 social works (BSW or MSW) shall be the organizations representatives. Representatives may come from the state level social work program of maternal and child health, family planning, children with special health care needs, home health, chronic disease, infectious disease, mental health, emergency preparedness or any other designated public health identified program. Each of the four members shall have one vote on all matters before the Association. All members may serve on committees and attend all meetings and are eligible to serve as officers of the Association. Student Membership: ($25.00) Student membership shall be opened to social work students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school of social work. This individual shall serve on committees, shall attend all meetings, shall be able to vote, and shall be able to service as an officer on the Executive Committee of the Association. Retiree Membership: ($25.00) Retiree membership shall be opened to retired health professionals employed in the area of public health social work or social work education. Retire members shall serve on committees, shall attend all meetings, shall be eligible to serve as an officer or to vote. ASTPHSW needs your ideas, efforts, and input on activities to make this vision happen. As members, there are many opportunities for you network and build relationships throughout the states and territories by working on a variety of committees available to you as a member: Membership Committee Infrastructure Committee Executive Committee ASTHO Subcommittees Invest in the Future The Association of State and Territorial Public Health Social Workers (ASTPHSW) is dedicated to the optimal social functioning of individuals and families through education, communication, and advocacy with the following objectives: To develop and maintain a broad-based membership comprised of persons interested in public health social work throughout the United States and the Territories To support a forum for the exchange of ideas, information sharing, and discussion of mutual concerns among social workers in public health To promote improved social worker practices affecting clients To advocate for public health policy that improves communities and the lives of families As a member of ASTPHSW, you will have Opportunities to meet colleagues from all levels of public health social work to learn from their experiences and build a network that is vital to your continued growth Support for your work in public health as a social worker (research, position papers, standards for practice and contacts) A respected organization for your use as a vehicle to share successes or use as a basis for support of social work principles Access to websites, resources, and linkages for topics impacting public health social work In affiliation with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials and in collaboration with other public health and social work organizations, ASTPHSW will take a leadership role in promoting health policy and values of public health social work. Stimulate and promote use of public health social work in provision of community health services Provide guidance for states and territories regarding public health social work services

PRESIDENT'S WELCOME Welcome to the Association of State and Territorial Public Health Social Workers website ! The ASTPHSW membership is comprised of a broad based group of social work professionals, who provide services focused on social work principles with a public health social work foundation. The members are working on behalf of developing systems of preventive public health social work services in the United States and Territories. ASTPHSW in an affiliate of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, which includes the public health agencies, public health employees, schools of public health as well as federal health care employees. ASTPHSW is dedicated to the optimal social functioning of individuals and families through education, communication and advocacy. Membership in ASTPHSW will provide you the opportunity to network, collaborate and partner with public health leaders and social workers in other states and with federal agencies. ASTPHSW is dedicated to providing its members with resources related to a variety of public health issues. “If anything is important, it is the future. The past is gone, and the present exists only as a fleeting moment. Everything that we think and do from this moment on can affect the future.
