Introduction Long Beard-Logan C.: Avast and welcome! We are glad you could join us for today’s 5th grade production of “Pirates – the Musical”. Blonde Beard-Reagan S. :Join our crew of colorful scallywags as they get ready for the annual “Caribbean Crooners Talent Show” for pirates. The pirate crew and prisoners will all have to work together to win the competition! White Beard-Reagan W.: But shiver-me-timbers, there’s some stowaways on board who threatens to ruin the crew’s plans. Why does everyone want to become a pirate? So before we begin, let’s look at the Top 10 Signs you are becoming a Pirate.

Dark Green Beard-Mikayla A: You know you are turning into a pirate when you start to grow a beard.
Martial Arts Beard-Jasmine: Or when you want to take all of your friend’s jewelry and wears it all at once. Light Purple Beard- Gracelyn C.: You might be coming a pirate when you sweep the floor and swab the deck without being asked. Hippy Beard- Reid R.: Or better yet, at supper, you bury some hidden treasure in your mashed potatoes Kyle R- Camo Beard: You might be turning into a pirate when you spend $300 on color coordinated bandanas. Bridget G.-Multi-Colored Beard: And it’s obvious when you don’t take a showerrr for a week. Mia K.- Orange Beard : Or how about when you attach extra wood to your bunk bed to make your sister walk the plank. White Beard-Reagan W.: What about when you hold your brother prisoner and demands a rrransom for his rrrelease. Lexi W.:-Light Blue Beard (Matey 4) And you might be coming a pirate when your teacher is asking why you have such bad grammarrrrrrr.

Stowaway #1-Campbell:Pirates! Pirates are very bad people. Make no mistake. They rob innocent peasants. Stowaway #2-Ayden-: They ransack villages. They use terrible language. SCENE 2 Stowaways: Pirates all are we! (Coming back on Stage…Singing and dancing like the pirates were) Easton L.-Gray Beard: Avast! Stowaways: (Continues) Pirates all are we! Pirates all are we! Easton L.-Gray Beard: Avast! (Very irritated!) Stowaways: Pirates aaaallll are… Easton L.-Gray Beard: Avast! Avast! Avast! That means “stop it” (The stowaways notices that nobody else is singing and all of the pirates are looking at him with disbelief. He stops, a bit embarrassed.) Easton L.-Gray Beard : When I say “Avast,” you stop! Stop! Stop! (A slight pause) Don’t you speak pirate? Stowaway 1-Campbell: No, sir. Not yet. But I plan to, for I , too, want to be a pirate just like you! (All the pirates laugh)

(There is a pause-then all the pirates laugh) Reagan S.-Blonde Beard: You can’t be a pirate! You’re too small! Reagan W.-Whitebeard: Arr! You’re all too young! Easton L.-Greybeard:: Why you’re all just young whipper snappers! Mia R.-Light Green Beard: You’re all too clean! Abbie L.-Rainbow Beard : Yeah dude, you would really bum us out! Light Pink-Beard-Mya M.: You’re all too gnarly man! Caitlyn T.- Dark Pink beard: Definitely not Totally Tubular! Stowaway 2-Ayden P.: But being a pirate is all I’ve ever wanted to be. It’s what I’ve dreamed about ever since I was a child. (She attempts to show them what a quick learner she is) Watch! Watch this!. (She lifts her very small toy cutlass.) Avast! Avast! Avast, I say! (All the pirates laugh.)

During music all other pirates are busily moving about the stage, coiling ropes, stacking crates, hoisting lines, carrying chests, etc. The stowaway sneaks back onto the ship in full view of the audience but is not seen by the pirates.]

Riley L.-Cheer Beard: (quickly and idiotically) I don’t know! I don’t smell anything at all! Well, maybe some of you, but I’m sort of used to that. All Pirates: (menacingly to Cheer Beard) Arrrr! Riley L.-Cheer Beard: On second thought, maybe it’s my allergies. Something does seem a little strange around here. Jayla C.-Dark Purple Beard: Shiver me timbers! There’s stowaways on board! Reagan W.-Whitebeard: Aye! We have to find them! Mia R.-Light Green Beard: Aye! Some stowaways! All Pirates: A stowaway! Gerlan T.- Brown Beard: Find them, ye sea dogs! Find them! Makenzie-Ella- The Queen’s Servant : More “AH”, less RRR! All Stowaways: Ahhhrrr? Sara A. - Queen of the High C’s: Avast! I’ve heard enough! Mark them all with a black spot and throw them in the brig with the rest of the prisoners! All Stowaways: But! But! Pirates: To the brig! [repeat this line as the stowaway moves down the line of pirates to be locked up] Music plays while stowaway becomes a prisoner. Red and Black Beard: Give them a black spot on their foreheads.

Stowaways look up and they all see the BLACK SPOT.
