Physical Activity and Nutrition Report January 28, 2019

2 Webster County District Wellness Plan
As outlined in Student Welfare and Wellness Board Policy (09.2), the Board is committed to providing school environments that promote and protect student health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. Student health is closely associated with academic achievement, attendance and behavior supports, therefore the students of the District need to strive for healthy lifestyles in order to truly be college and career ready. This Wellness Plan strives to address those needs and provide support to our schools, families, and the community. The District Wellness Plan committee goals: Promote nutrition education, physical activity and other school-based activities that are appropriate to the grade level as defined in Policy (09.2). With an emphasis on enjoyable, developmentally-appropriate, culturally-relevant, participatory activities. Promote Nutritional Guidelines for all foods served during the school day in accordance with state and federal regulations and Board Policies (07.111) and (07.12). Promote the development of a Wellness Plan by each school. Promote regular physical activity each day. Actively seek to engage students, parents, physical and/or health education teachers, school food service professionals, school health professionals, school board members, school administrators, and other interested community members to participate on this committee. Provide an annual progress report to public and Board of Education on the current school wellness efforts and attainment of goals.
