NEW EXAMINATION POLICY
AN INTRODUCTION BY CBSE & KVS- AIMS & OBJECTIVES It focuses on revised assessment structure and bring the uniformity in the system of assessment and examination for classes IX and X . To increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for class X Board examination when they join the upper primary stage in class VI. The CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment, examination pattern and issue of report cards for classes VI to VIII also on the similar pattern.

While keeping in view the provisions of Right to Education Act, 2009, the scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on Term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning assessment as the students move forward. This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenge of class X Board examination, and would thus, ensure the ‘quality of education’.

Report card of the National Assessment Survey ( ) has indicated that the performance of CBSE class X students in Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English and Modern Indian Language is 52%, 51%, 53%, 58% and 62% respectively. Although this competency-based survey places the CBSE students above the national average, it indicates that there is ample scope for improvement in their performance. 16 July 2019 S KUMAR

PISA The PISA is a competency-based test to assess the quality of education systems across the world. It assesses the learning levels of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics, science, collaborative problem solving and money literacy. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) conducts PISA every three years.

Note Book Submission [05 Marks]
Notebook submission as a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topic being taught in the classroom as well as assignments completion. This also addresses the critical aspect of regularity, notebook upkeep and neatness. Assessment to be done on monthly basis in each subject by the subject teacher i.r.o. Co-Scholastic Activities (VI to VIII)
For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out by the teachers and will be graded term-wise on a 3-point grading scale [ A = Outstanding, B = Very Good, C = Fair] The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and team work be the generic criteria for grading in the following scholastic activities: i. Restoring of Class-X Board Examination
Consequent upon the decision taken by the Governing Body of CBSE, the dual scheme of examination for Class – X shall stand discontinued for students appearing in Class – X from the Academic Year The examination from Academic Year would be conducted as per the remodeled assessment structure. 16 July 2019 Shri S KUMAR

Board will conduct an Examination for 80 marks. 100 % syllabus of each subject . Both Marks and grades willbe allocated by the Board for each subject. However, school will also conduct Pre-Board Exams for the students.

AISSE 2020, onwards CBSE has introduced 2 levels:
Mathematics - Standard, for existing level of examination Mathematics - Basic, for easier level of examination Standard level : For students who wish to opt for Mathematics at Sr. Sec. Level Basic Level : For students not keen to peruse Mathematics at Sr. Sec. Level Syllabus, Class Room Teaching and Internal Assessment for both the level remain the same. Student to choose between the two levels of examination at the time of submission of LOC by school to the Board.

AISSE 2020, onwards Mathematics-Standard is to be passed at class X, for taking up Mathematics at Sr. Secondary level. A student qualifying Mathematics-Basic has the option to appear in Mathematics-Standard at the time of compartment exam. There shall not be two levels of assessment / examination for Class IX

Information Technology (Code 402)
Skill subject (Subject 6) in class IX If a student fails in any of the three compulsory academic subjects (i.e. Science, Mathematics and Social Science) and passes in the skill subject (6th optional subject) then it will be replaced by the skill subject and result of class X Board Examination will be computed accordingly.

Discipline Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character. Sincerity, good behavior and values develop strength and foster unity and co-operation. Accordingly, the following may please be noted for compliance:
Date: Please refer to KVS(HQ) letters dated and circulated to all Regional Offices regarding classes IX & XI examination and passing criteria. However, it has come to the notice that some Regional Offices have issued clarification on the subject cited above. The clarification issued by the Regional Offices viz. Delhi, Hyderabad and Bhopal being different, have resulted in some confusions in the field. Accordingly, the following may please be noted for compliance: For Class IX: For subjects having internal assessment of 20 Marks, previous obtained marks will be carried forward. Marks obtained in compartment exam (out of 80) together with marks obtained in internal Assessment ( out of 20) will be taken together to declare the student pass. (33% subject wise & Overall 33%). For Class XI: A student has to score 33 % Marks in the Compartment Exam; and 33% in all subjects taken together (without additional subject) for having declared pass. 16 July 2019 Shri S KUMAR

Subject: - The Right of children to free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Act 2019 reg. Madam/Sir, With reference to the subject cited above the extracts of the Right of children to free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Act 2019 are given below: 1. There shall be a regular examination in the fifth class and in the eight class at the end of every academic year. 2. If a child fails in the examination referred to in sub-section (!}, he shall be given addition Instruction and granted opportunity for re-examination within a period of two months from the date of declaration of result. 3. The appropriate Government may allow schools to hold back a child in the fifth class or in the eighth class or in both classes, in such manner and subject to such conditions may be prescribed, if he fails in the re-examination referred to in sub-section (2). 4.
