Dissemination Policy within SOK (Statistical Office of Kosovo)

Introduction Statistical Office of Kosovo (SOK) is attached to the Ministry of Public Services as an independent agency, according the UNMIK Regulation 2001/14 SOK is responsible for the collection, analysis, compilation and processing of statistical data and for the dissemination of results. It has six divisions, a temporary Population Census, Households and Housing Office and 7 regional offices.

Duties and responsibilities of Dissemination Sector
The Dissemination Sector is responsible for the following tasks: Co-ordination of all SOK publications Drafting and follow-up of the annual publication plan Production of horizontal publications Setting dissemination standards Dissemination management Dissemination through Internet Translation/proofreading of publications Library for inside and outside users

SOK Dissemination Policy
All publications are disseminated by SOK SOK also publishes joint publications with local and international institutions By law, all publication of SOK must be published at least in two languages: Albanian Serbian. Most publications are also published in English

Dissemination Standards
All publications (printed or electronic) have a similar structure of content and the presentation of results, following a standard philosophy (corporate identity) In all products a standardized terminology is used For the same subject, similar breakdowns of nomenclature are applied in different publications Statistical surveys and the methods used in collection, revision, calculation and estimation of statistics are documented in a standard way (metadata) Data can be obtained in a standard format, suitable for data processing at the user’s PC
