INTERIOR IMMIGRATIONS OF 60s IN CATALONIA Gerard Jorba, Jesús Gabarri, Claudia Castelar, Miriam Zaim When? The migration between 1950 and 1975 led to the arrival in the community of Catalonia of 1.4 million immigrants, a record figure. The period of high immigration was the sixties with the arrival of 72,000 immigrants annually. It continued with the trend immigrated to Catalonia until the seventies with an annual average of 45,000 immigrants. Consequences -Demographic growth of the population of Catalonia. - A reconstruction of the workplace. - Because of the increasing population of the capital are many houses outside the walls. Why? In Spain's economy declined, but, instead, Catalonia was recovering economically and many people emigrated there to achieve better quality of life and to escape poverty.
