2 Texas High Speed Rail & Transportation Corporation (THSRTC)
THSRTC is a non-profit corporation created in 2002 Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes is Secretary for the Corporation The vision of the THSRTC is to create “a multimodal and intermodal transportation system linking the four major metropolitan areas in Texas together by an advanced high speed rail system”

3 The Texas T-Bone Corridor
Connects the major metropolitan areas in Texas North-South: Fort Worth/Dallas, Hillsboro, Waco, Killeen/Temple/Fort Hood, Austin and San Antonio East-West: Killeen/Temple/Fort Hood, Bryan/College Station, Houston

4 Local Congressional/Legislative Support
Senators Hutchison and Cornyn Representatives Burgess, Edwards and Marchant Legislative Senators Davis and Harris Representatives Truitt, Pierson and Smith

5 October 5, 2009 Meeting Request for Support
County Judge Glen Whitley, Commissioner Gary Fickes and Mayor Oscar Trevino met with Mayor Mike Moncrief, Councilman Jungus Jordan and Councilman Carter Burdette Commissioner Fickes provided a briefing on the high speed rail project Asked for a Council Resolution supporting the high speed rail issue

6 Proposed Resolution Articulates the growth and development that is occurring in the City of Fort Worth Notes that 7.5 million people live within a 50 mile radius of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Notes that high speed passenger rail is capable of operating at speeds in excess of 185 mph

Resolves that The City of Fort Worth supports the efforts to develop a viable high speed rail system The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport be encouraged to support the development of high speed rail A high speed rail station should be located on Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport property
