5 SP&G – the apostrophe Used to show possession or elision (abbreviation) Eg. The boy’s toys (possession – one boy) But: the boys’ toys (more than one boy…)

Its = possession (belonging to it) like my, your, his, her, our, their It’s is an exception to the ..’s shows possession rule. It’s NEVER shows possession.
