These user models may be rather rudimentary or quite sophisticated. User information is used by the system in order to adapt their behaviour to the needs, characteristics and preferences of users. More specifically, to personalize the content, the presentation, services and interaction. User profile information is inserted explicitly by the user or collected implicitly by the system by monitoring user interaction. This is the purpose of the User profiling module.
