Number of courses closed in 051 is 145 Cancellations of many 400 & 500 levels courses following the early registration There is no evidence to suggest that the progress and graduation of students are affected

4 Factors That Influence Closing a Course
Faculty availability and specialization Space availability: room availability and classroom size Faculty teaching load ( 6 – 9 Hours) Section size uniformity Laboratory size and equipment availability

5 Factors That Influence Closing a Course
Laboratory Instructors and Technicians Type of course i.e is it a core course, or an elective? The frequency of the course offering Course special educational requirements

6 Guidelines The student has the right to register up to the maximum load allowed from the courses that he is eligible to register for. During the early registration period, the registrar should make a provision for a waiting list for all courses and sections. The waiting list should be forwarded to the department chairman at the end of the early registration period.

7 Guidelines No 100 & 200 level courses should be closed unless fully justified. Appropriate section size for 200 & 300 level courses may be students. Appropriate section size for 400 level courses may be students. The department is encouraged to open electives even if the section size is small. This will ensure diversity.
