1 Gleanings From The Story Of Christmas
Taking things of value from what has been left behind.

2 1. Some Things Experience Can Never Prepare You For.
Luke 1:  And Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" 35  And the angel answered and said to her, " The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.

3 2. Some Things Are Worth Giving Up Your Own Life And Plans For
Luke 1:  And Mary said, "Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

4 3. Some Things Are Worth Risking Your Reputation.
Matthew 1:  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. 19  And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly. 20  But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, " Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

5 4. Faith And Forgiveness Open A Life To Be Eternally Significant
Matthew 1:  And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, 25  and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.

6 5. Some Things Are Worth The Journey
Luke 1:36 36  "And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. Luke 1:  Now at this time Mary arose and went with haste to the hill country, to a city of Judah, 40  and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41  And it came about that when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

7 5. Some Things Are Worth The Journey
Luke 2:  And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. 4  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5  in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. 6  And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

8 5. Some Things Are Worth The Journey
Matthew 2:  Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, 2  "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him." 3  And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

9 5. Some Things Are Worth The Journey
John 1:   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2   He was in the beginning with God. 3   All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. John 1:  And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

10 6. Some Things Are Worth Making Room For In Our Busy Lives
Luke 2:7 7  And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

11 7. Some Things Are Worth Opening Up Your Treasures For
Matthew 2:  And they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented to Him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
