selective licensing will bring more private rented sector dwellings into the regulatory spotlight safer housing team will enforce the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards alongside the Housing Act to remove category 1 and reduce category 2 excess cold hazards overall this will help address issues of disrepair and improve conditions of the private rented sector to contribute to reducing the impact of fuel poverty Residents in the Private Rented Sector are three times more likely to be living in fuel poverty and also tend to be deeper in fuel poverty Environmental Health’s Safer Housing team pledge to tackle this as part of their enforcement responsibilities ALEO – SE Spring Meeting
