Lesson Topic(s): Story Elements Week of: 1/14-1/18 Objectives: Students will identify the elements of a story. TEKS: 6 (A) identify elements of a story including setting, character, and key events. Essential Question(s): How are the characters and setting important to this story? Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Lesson Plan Students will identify the characters in a story read aloud. Students will explain the role of each character in a story read aloud. Students will identify the setting of a story read aloud. Students will sort character and setting cards by story. Vocabulary Characters Setting Higher order questions How would the story be effected if we removed a specific character? How would the story be effected if we switched the characters to animals? How would the story be effected if we changed the setting? How would a specific story change if we switched a character or setting? Assessment Strategy Students will use their writing strategies to write a simple sentence about 1 character from the story. Students will use their writing strategies to write a simple sentence identifying the setting of the story.
