Business challenge: The Australian Department of Defence engaged technology consultant Accenture to upgrade its Oracle PeopleSoft HR application, but the strict security standards presented a challenge. Unable to grant access into its secure network, the organization needed to set up a separate environment that would allow developers to perform the upgrade outside the network domain.
Solution: IBM® Global Technology Services® set up an IBM Cloud Managed Services™ development environment that included 104 virtual machines and a mainframe platform with IBM System z® servers, an IBM z/OS® logical partition soft-capped at 800 million instructions per second (MIPS), 6.5 TB of mainframe disk and three IBM DB2® data server subsystems for the client’s PeopleSoft and portal environments.
