Wellness Champion Mission Statement
Mission: Psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being are critical for a competent, caring, and resilient health care professional. Saint Louis University School of Medicine will foster a culture of well-being and self-care through its Wellness Champion Program. Vision: The Wellness Champion Program will facilitate wellness activities in Graduate Medical and Graduate Research Education through the personal and collaborative activities of the Wellness Champions and will support the development of wellness initiatives within programs at the School of Medicine.

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you” -Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People -Oxytocin is important in social communication. -it improves our ability to recognize a familiar face, recognize an expression as positive or negative, and infer the mental state of another person -Oxytocin reduces cortisol reducing anxiety in stressful situations (Heinrichs et al 2009)

Chapter 7: Role Models *Resilient people have role models
Who is yours? Negative role models: what not to imitate Good role models inspire, motivate, provide consistent and reliable support, and foster self-esteem. A person learns by focusing on small behaviors, practicing in various settings, and get feedback if possible.
