New Reading Series: We are going to start our new reading series, Journeys, this week. There will be a few changes, but we will try to keep those to a minimum. The first few weeks, we will reviewing skills taught this year. Please bear with us as we begin this new Journey, we will be learning as a class how this curriculum works, with all of its new
WIN (What I Need) Time: Great things are happening in our literacy time. ALL students will receive small group instruction, outside of the classroom, in in addition to our classroom small group time. Our time will be 10:30 AM.
STAY CONNECTED: Our classroom has a class page at It will contain our weekly skills and spelling words, newsletters, and classroom photos. Select your campus from the top of the page and locate my name under staff. Additionally, you may sign up for remind to receive updates and reminders by texting @tatum3rd to I have attached a permission slip for your child to appear on our classroom website. Please indicate whether you give permission, sign and return. I realize this was indicated on your initial paperwork but I want to be sure that each parent grants permission before any pictures are posted
Power School: You can keep up to date with your child’s grades. If you have internet access, you can review your child’s grades in Power School. Call the office for your log in and password. I normally update grades on Sunday and Monday evenings.
Yearbooks: Yearbooks are on sale now- They cost $35 until the end of the first semester. After that they are $45.
Snacks: Thank you so much to everyone who has sent snacks!!

OUR LEARNING GOALS
Reading: Our target skill is determining story structure and analyzing Illustrations.  Our target strategy is summarization. We will be reading “A Fine, Fine School” 
Language Arts: We will learn about simple, compound and complex sentences
Math: We will round numbers to the nearest 10’s and 100’s.
Social Studies: We will learn about the regions of the United States.
