What is Biomedical Engineering. What do they deal with/what do they do
What is Biomedical Engineering? What do they deal with/what do they do? (Introduction) Biomedical engineering is the biological or medical application of engineering principles. Workers in this relatively new line of work deal with problem to do with energy, the environment, advancements in prosthetics, hospital equipment, and healthcare overall.

What does the field consist of. Is it a highly specialized profession
What does the field consist of? Is it a highly specialized profession? (Abstract) This field is a combination of a variety of disciplines, such as: mechanical engineering, computer engineering, biology, chemistry, etc. Some may also study biomedical engineering and then go into other professions like business or the law allowing more options of specialization.

Where do biomedical engineers work
Where do biomedical engineers work? What is the typical working environment? (Conclusion) Those in the practice of bioengineering tend to work full time at universities, hospitals, educational/medical institutions, company research facilities,or regulatory agencies.

Extra Information: Bioengineering has a higher percentage of female students than many other occupations. Since it is a comparatively new field it has a bright future ahead of it. One of the current projects: injecting gel-like liquids in between spinal disks will slow down the wearing out of the spinal cord in adults. The improving of corrective surgeries, such as laser surgery for those with poor vision, making the analytical process for diseases faster, or automated insulin pumps, and the creation of prosthetic limbs, are all a part of this field. Creation of vaccinations is also within this profession.

The designing/production of artificial organs is another one of the many subjects/problems that are dealt within the bioengineering field. Ex. artificial kidneys, artificial skin. Nanotechnology/Microtechnology are used for detailed imagery production and drug delivery. Biomaterial research focuses on the interactions of biomolecules and cells with materials, and is of high importance in biomedical engineering.
