May 3, 2013 AGENDA: 1 – Bell Ringer & Part. Log 2 – Review HW 3 – Explanation of Extra Credit 4 – Demos: Gas Laws 5 – QUIET work time 6 – Turn in work Todays Goal: Students will be able to describe how the gas laws explain everyday phenomena. Homework 1. Study 35-Week Exam on the GAS LAWS ( Mon=EVEN, Tues=ODD) 2. Week 32 Work due TODAY! 3. Week 32 Quiz due TODAY! 4. Week 33 Work that you want on your PR is due Monday! 5. EC: Gas Law Poster (due Mon)

Friday, May 3 Objective: Students will be able to describe how the gas laws explain everyday phenomena. Bell Ringer: Use Lussacs Law: P 1 T 2 = P 2 T 1 Oxygen gas, O 2, had a 10atm pressure and a temperature of 30°C. If the pressure was changed to 2atm, calculate the new temperature in the container. 5 minutes!

REVIEW

Review Homework For MIXED PROBLEMS: remember, to know which of the Gas Laws to use… …Boyles Law With changes in P & V …Charles Law With changes in T & V …Lussacs Law With changes in P & T

Extra Credit: Gas Law Poster (due MONDAY, 5/6/2013) For Extra Credit, make a creative poster on ONE OF THE GAS LAWS to hang up during the test. (It will count for up to 5 assignments depending on how good it is.) Your poster MUST INCLUDE the Laws: Name (ex: Boyles Law) Equation(s) Variables and Units (and how to convert, if needed) Graph of the variables: is it Direct or Inverse? Either (or both) of the following: Explanation of an example problem Explanation of a demonstration of it in real life

Demonstrations of Boyles Law Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in a vacuum… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27yqJ9vJ5kQ What happens to lungs when diving underwater?
