Sexual Sexual Reproduction--One organism is produced by two organisms with sex cells. The off-spring is genetically different from the parents.
3
Male Parts of the Flower
Stamen--The male reproductive organ of a plant. Filament-holds up the anther Anther-where pollen is produced
4
Female Parts of the Flower
Pistil- female part of the flower Stigma- sticky part that collects pollen Style- carries pollen from the stigma to the ovaries Ovaries- where fertilization takes place and where egg develop.
5
Haploid Cells Haploid Cells- Cells that have half of the number of chromosomes Pollen- sperm of the plant Ovule- egg of the plant
6
Pollination Pollination- transfer of pollen to the female part of the plant Pollen can be transported by gravity, wind, water currents, or animals.
7
Sexual Reproduction Fertilization—when sperm and egg unite.
Diploid- cells with the full number of chromosomes Zygote--the first cell of a new organism.
8
The zygote form into a seed with 3 parts.
Embryo-Baby Plant (also called a cotyledon) Stored Food-food for the baby plant Protective Coat- Protects the embryo and its food
9
